![]() TikTok may not take the same approach, but if it turns out that longer videos = longer TikTok usage, we might see less of the app’s short, snappy, and strange viral clips. Digging through the archives, Bernadette found photography books that gave precise instructions on photo editing how to remove freckles, blemishes, and wrinkles from the skin and reshape the neck, bust areas. But it’s worth considering the possible parallels to YouTube: as the platform grew, YouTube biased its algorithm toward viewer retention, which meant longer and longer videos - it’s why just about everything on YouTube is over 10 minutes long now. In this super-fun video, Bernadette Banner tells you more about it and explores the history of the Victorian era’s Facetune. TikTok didn’t say how longer clips might affect its much-loved recommendation algorithm. It makes editing videos as simple as editing a selfie: you edit any one frame of your video, and we'll automatically apply it to the entire clip for you. Facetune Video is a ridiculously easy-to-use retouching app for selfie videos. Longer videos were limited to select users, though, but they’ll now be rolling out to everyone on TikTok “over the coming weeks.” To Facetune your videos, you can download Facetune Video for free on the App Store. Alongside perfecting your latest selfie, you can use Facetune to make minor background edits. Be warned, many photographers and social media users question the apps integrity. ![]() ![]() Three-minute videos have been in testing at least since December, and it’s been easy to come across them when scrolling through videos from top TikTok creators, particularly in categories like cooking. Facetune allows users to amplify their features, smooth out their skin tone, and even decrease their waist size. The extension is meant to give creators more flexibility while filming and limit the need for multi-part posts - though I suspect creators love hooking users that way and will keep breaking up stories. The app is now rolling out the ability for everyone to publish videos up to three minutes in length, three times the existing one-minute limit.
